My wife gave me a great tip for checking for plagiarism: Read the Bibliography. Dates should be required for interviews and websearches. If these dates do not fall in line with what is reasonable for the semester due dates, that should raise a red flag. She caught a student using another student's paper just on that one point alone (and she's quite the plagiarism detective).
